Green Owl Tuition

I have been a teacher for over 15 years. Before setting up Green Owl Tuition, I taught in a variety of primary and secondary schools across Essex, gaining a wide range of knowledge and experience at both levels.

As a Secondary school English teacher, I taught across all year groups from Years 7 to 11, as well as being the 1:1 English tutor and Key Stage 4 English GCSE lead.

I was invited to collaborate in a primary school to improve their Literacy levels, and after enjoying the environment, stayed on to become their Years 5 and 6 class teacher, covering all subjects including English and maths. My next post was at my final school before starting Green Owl Tuition, as the Specialist Intervention 1:1 Lead to Years 4, 5 and 6, focussing on bridging the gaps in maths and English.

Green Owl Tuition has now been running for over 7 years, teaching more than 120 pupils, ranging in ages from 8 to 16.

I hold two degrees: BA (Honours) in English Literature and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in English (PGCE). I am also an English examiner for three different exam boards: Pearson, AQA and SQA. I have marked for both the GCSE English Language and Literature papers, the SATs Reading paper, as well as for the Scottish exam board as an English Reader Coding examiner for Pre-Test Trials.

In 2018, I published an English educational book for younger students called 10 Minute English.

Since 2015, I have been the scriptwriter for Maldon Pantomime Society. I have written 7 pantomime scripts, all of which have been performed (the most recent to be January, 2025). Alongside this, I write poetry, novels and other non-fiction articles.
